Florida APRN CE Requirements | Mandatory License Renewal

How Many CE Hours Do Florida APRNs Need to Renew Their License?

Florida-licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) must complete 24 hours of continuing education (CE) during each renewal period. These CE hours ensure compliance with Florida Board of Nursing regulations and help APRNs stay up to date with best practices in patient care and controlled substance prescribing.

Mandatory Continuing Education for Florida APRNs

To maintain an active APRN license in Florida, the following CE courses are required every renewal period (every two years):

  • Two (2) hours on Prevention of Medical Errors

  • Three (3) hours on Safe and Effective Prescription of Controlled Substances
